Coming up (Fall 2025)

  • Join us as we explore spiritual gifts together.

Every child of God is filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, specially gifted to play a unique and valued role in the body of Christ. No one is without gift or purpose. Spiritual gifts are not our talents or skills. They are the grace of God at work within us, empowering us to match our deep passions with the world’s deep need. The gifts are given to individuals, but they are given to build and strengthen community and to meet the needs of those around us. Begin the journey. Discover your gifts. Talk about your gifts with others. Strive together to understand your gifts and how you can use them to serve God, neighbor, and world. You have been gifted. You have been given a purpose.

  • Sunday’s, starting October 26, and ending on Sunday, November 23, from 7 – 8:15 pm meeting in the library at the church. Dates: Oct. 26, Nov. 2, 9, 16.

Are you already connected to GUMC? Do you consider this congregation your church home? Do you feel like you belong here? Would you like to belong here?

At GUMC, we strive to actively live the example of Jesus Christ. We believe that the best possible way to live like Christ is to do so in community. This is part of living the promise of our baptism. Church membership is how we recognize that commitment to community.

If you want to become a member but this schedule doesn’t work, contact Pastor Marty: pastormarty@gumonline.org

  • Covenant Discipleship Groups are a vital part of how we follow, become like, and be with Jesus. The premise is simple: a group of people commit to meeting on a regular basis to answer the following question: where do you see Christ in your life? This isn’t a small group or a class. It’s an opportunity to learn how to re-narrate your life in the light of Christ. Want to learn more? Sign up.

  • We read the Bible to build our relationship with God. But what does the Bible say God is really like? What defines God’s personality? Does God’s mind change? Is God all-powerful? What about wrath, mercy, judgement, and all the other disquieting attributes that describe God’s character? If God is love, what is God’s love like? Consider this course if you want to be a better reader of the scriptures and to enjoy a deeper relationship with God.

This course is offered on Mondays (12 – 1 pm) and Thursdays (7 – 8 pm) on the following dates:

    1. Monday Lunch & Learn: 10/20, 10/27, 11/3, 11/10, 11/17

    2. Thursday Evening Class: 10/23, 10/30, 11/6, 11/13, 11/20

  • Sponsored by our Church & Society team and the OneAmerica Movement, learn about what causes polarization and what we can do about it. Meal provided.

  • Since 1908, Methodists have used our Social Principles as an aid to reflection on how we live wisely in a complex world. In 2024, the UMC adopted a revised version. If you want to learn about the Social Principles, how to use them in your life, or are just curious what our denomination thinks about things, sign-up below. GUMC will provide copies of the Social Principles of the United Methodist Church 2025–2028 for attendees.

There are two options for this class:

    1. A Monday Lunch & Learn (12 - 1 pm): 9/8, 9/15, 9/22, 9/29, 10/6.

    2. A Wednesday Evening Class (6 - 7 pm): 9/10, 9/17, 9/24, 10/1, 10/8.
